Hello all,
Have been really busy with the exams.. happy to plunge back!!
There has been a lot of discussion over the recent anti corruption awareness amongst us, catalysed by the visionaries which are role models for many. Many of us 'like' them on facebook, some lie prostrate on couches and hold domestic debates, yet some of us write articles in newspapers, others like myself blog on them.. But the question is: does that suffice ?? Is our responsibility as innate citizens over??
There is one thing which always prods my soul- Is getting into Army, Civil Services, Government or Politics is the only way to be a part of the 'System' that we blame so often? Our constitution is not weak, weak are we! We elect the people and send them to the House. We, fail to resist or protest when we see the downright injustice occuring everywhere, despite the fact that the real power lies with us..
Don't we often say or hear "arrey yaar system hi kharaab hai.." "Saala chapraasi se le ke collector tak sab nikamme hain"..."kuch accha karo toh bhi akele kya kar loge" and a plethora of such pessimist excuses? Have we ever tried to ponder over the very evident and apparent truth that slaps hard on the larger mass of our population (which is in fact the backbone of our democracy)?? The answer is a big shameless NO
Its high time we realise and empower ourselves. I proudly proclaim that my Constitution is such an ideal constitution that it provides me with numerous rights and bestows me with certain Duties.. In Mother Tersa's Words- "A revolution does not need a leader, it has to be brought- person to person"!! If i set u thinking, the wheels are already in motion!!

I like your respect towards our constitution.. Yes, WE are responsible.. But this is being told from decades.. Somewhere in my mind, I think we've bounced back really well after independence and developed very well compared to what we were left with at the time the British left us.. I think the reason for that is because of the set of leaders we had at that time..The first set of politicians we had after independence were the best we ever had..How committed they were ! I'm amazed by their love for the nation.. If the present politicians were given a chance, they would have sold india instead..
ReplyDeleteBut now, we are barely left with any option..If one party is corrupt, the other is non-secular..Some others are extremists..Some are caste based and community based..people are in a dilemma..
There were days when things were really in the hands of the people..But now, the system is becoming rigid day by day and there is barely any chance for the common man to take initiatives to bring change...But on the other hand, education, technology and media are offering a helping hand to counter this rigidity...
Now more responsibility is in the hands of the IAS and other administrative officers of India..If they really commit themselves to the development of the nation, without just becoming scapegoats of the system , our dreams shall become true...

As Kalyan just said, what you have expressed in your blog is something that we have been hearing since school days.. what we require are possible, realistic, practical ideas and actions that can bring about the change that we so desire..
ReplyDeletePerhaps, a new party consisting of educated, open-minded, secular, rational people who can rise far above the petty-vote-bank-tactics, can be a long-lasting solution..
I am very confident that such a party will be a success. Remember how Shashi Tharoor won from his constituency, despite him being a non-resident Keralite since his childhood! Good education, conviction and strong character is all that is required..
